Khalid could be described with
one world: playful. He liked to play with everything. When in a restaurant,
he was folding paper or throwing paper planes, then following them till
they landed on someone’s plate. Whenever he’d find an object, a discard,
or a part of a machine, he’d make use of it to play with it. His
devices were little inventions aimed to add some charm to a desk, some
humor to a dining table, or some comfort to a bathtub. Each device had
its own unusual, never before seen design. His work was often used as props
for theatrical performances. Objects were jumping, swimming, unwinding,
walking, talking, playing, looking, making odd sounds, or holding things.
Each object had its own unique personality combined with its function.
His best invention was his self-portrait that was making things that made
things.
